An eclectic group of islands starting from Nanaimo and stretching about 60 nautical miles down to Victoria and Sooke make up this magic cruising ground. This whole area is great for cruising and is especially well suited for people with families on board. It is an area of gentle sailing plus many family oriented activities on land, such as accessible hiking trails, idyllic beaches and cycling trails. Some islands are totally deserted, some providing excellent sheltered anchorages so a good nights sleep can be counted upon. Local stores and restaurants are proud of their local products including their coffee roasters, wineries and breweries.
If it is a relaxing and profoundly interesting sailing holiday with short distances between each stop is what you are about, then this cruising area is for you!
