This is a 2 part course – each part (module) is a 3.5 hour classroom session.
Introduces the student to Maritime Mobile Service, Regulations and Procedures. Students are taught the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases.
Covers Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, (DSC/GMDSS). This module is of great importance today.
On successful completion of the course students are awarded the Restricted Operators Certificate (ROC M) with a Digital Selective Calling endorsement (DSC). This ROC licence is a Canadian Government issued card, allowing you to operate a marine VHF radio with selective calling.
