Increase your knowledge; improve your boat handling skills in this five day cruise and learn Sailing Course. The course objective is to be able to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a keelboat of 8 to 12 meters in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. This course brings you closer to being able to bareboat charter.
Basic Cruising Standard.
It is recommended to have a recognized first aid certificate and a VHF radio operator’s certificate. Some experience as skipper at the Basic level (at least 10 day sails or equivalent) and have applied the knowledge and practiced the skills of the Basic Cruising Standard.

- Boat and Sail handling
- Navigation
- Menu planning
Preboard Sunday evening (between 5 and 7pm) for a boat orientation.
Course begins on Monday.
The vessels used for instruction are sail boats in the 32-40 foot range. Wheel steering and roller furling are standard. You will be staying on the yacht for the duration of the course. The course includes accommodation, meals from Monday to Friday and bedding if required.
On successful completion of the course, students will earn the CYA Intermediate Cruising certification and Pleasure Craft Operator card.
